Scripture Word Portraits

“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground

[physical matter created by the Words of God in Genesis 1],

and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life;”– Genesis 2:7a

 Just as Post Conceptual UnGraven Image Art theory — using symbols for strokes — is radically new art for the twenty-first century, Scripture Word Portraits are a new kind of portrait painting. What is radical is that the letter-strokes are used in the same manner as strokes in traditional art. They can overlap, be upside down, and used as glazes. The strokes are not meant to be read by the viewer. They represent the words of the Creator, understood to be the building blocks of the universe, which cutting edge science explains as the smallest pre-matter and energies of the universe (smaller even than particles).

Scripture Word Portraits are about seeing the divine in ourselves and others. The intrinsic meaning is not in the image(s) but in the strokes.

Each one of us has a spark of the divine, a “still small voice” that we each get to opportunities to share in a unique and special ways.
